Discussion Panel on Inclusion in Creative Computing
17:00-19:00 | 16th August 2024 | Cologne, Germany
This 2-hour discussion panel on the history of inclusion of women and minorities in the demoscene and creative computing, will take place during one of the biggest and most important grassroots events of its kind in Europe: Evoke 2024 demoparty.
Since 1997, around 350-400 members of the demoscene from across the continent have come annually to Germany, to celebrate digital art and electronic music.
The demoscene is at the core of what GRADE defines as creative computing and Action’s participation in the event will boost its visibility with key stakeholders. The panel will include both grassroots practitioners (Anna Zdrahal, Darya Gulyamova) and
academics representing GRADE (Gleb Albert and Maria Garda, the latter of whom will be moderating). The discussion will be followed by an extensive Q&A and a brainstorming session.
You can find more about EVOKE on its website and see the programme here.
If you are a diversity advocate active in the GRADE network, you can join this otherwise hybrid event in person! Contact the Action Chair directly at maria.garda@utu.fi.
